11 Reasons to book your

first trip to Bali

For those of you who have never been to this jewel in Indonesia

or have already been there, you will discover why there are so many reasons

why people keep coming back, I myself have been here FIVE times now.

And I think I will be coming back soon too!

The Temples

of Gods

Bali has one of the most majestic and mystical temples found in every beautiful corner of the island.

Here are three of my favourites:

Tanah Lot

One of the Seven Sea Temples of Bali which is purely enchanting.

Situated at the edge of a cliff making it a stunning scenery.

Ulun Danu

A water temple that regally sits at the edge of lake Bratan, the temperature here is lower so, try not to wear beach clothes here.

The Balinese surely know how to compliment nature's beauty with their Temples I must say.

The Mighty Waves

and Alluring Beaches

Bali is a true surfer's paradise welcoming eager learners and avid surfers alike.

Two of my favourite pristine beaches are in Nusa Dua and Dreamland.

TIP: Go to the beach where The Mulia Resort is, it is quiet and far away from crowded beaches,

You can rent sun beds, have drinks, food and even a massage at the establishment next to the beautiful resort.

It's fun to fly a kite too if you think of bringing one. ;)

Villas of Luxury

Bali is sprawling with gorgeous villas which offer much more privacy and luxury for a group of friends if you compare to hotels.

However, some villas tend to be in isolated locations so It is also wise to hire a private vehicle for a group of people when going about the island as this saves time in figuring out how to get from one place to another.

Hotels are also convenient for fewer people and most of them are in convenient locations.

Being a fan of Airbnb, I managed to book a room in a gorgeous villa

Check out Anna's listing here.

Cocktails & Sunsets

You can't get enough of Balinese sunsets and cocktails for sure, Bali is bountifully blessed with libations to uplift your spirits.

Here are some of my two favourite spots:

Rock Bar at Ayana

Enjoy a few cocktails while listening to an orchestra of majestic waves crashing in the rocks.

They also have an Italian restaurant called Sami Sami if you are in the mood for food, I loved it!

Single Fin Bali

This groovy joint is ideal for sunsets and waiting for the night to come alive.

Arrive a bit earlier before the sunset to get a nice balcony seat with a view.

Wine & Dine

Simply infinite! Culinary delights around the world seem to have converged in this island paradise.

Two picks are:

Merah Putih

Go for their luxurious 10 course tasting menu of Balinese Asian fusion, if you find it hard to decide just take your tastebuds for a ride, but don't let the small portions fool you, by the 7th course you will feel quite full.

Naughty Nuri's Warung Ribs

BEST RIBS IN BALI, I personally prefer the one located in Ubud, the sheer presence of these mouth watering

ribs flame grilled right before your very eyes will excite all your senses for sure.

Breakfast of Champions

Coconut milk coffee, breakfast bowls, poached eggs and more, Bali has it all.

Choose from the hippest collection of cafes in the island to chill before heading to the beach!

Here are a two that top my list:

Sea Circus:

Try their coconut milk coffee and breakfast smoothies!

Try everything if you can! love their menu.

Monkey Business

Love them or hate 'em!

Theres an entire forest of them but even if you are not fond of these critters, the beautiful Hindu temple is worth a visit.

Careful not to feed them though as they are equally aggressive as they are adorable.

Baby and adult monkeys will climb all over you and take stuff, so better come empty handed and never provoke them, I imagine they will swarm on you if ever.  Never bring food as they can detect it and any shiny bling has a high chance of being taken.

And don't wear clothes that you don't want to get stained, monkeys don't wash their hands or feet.

High or Low

To the Mountians We Go!

Mt. Batur is not an easy hike but it is suitable for beginners, the effort will reward you with a stunning view!

The hike begins a few hours before dawn, wear breathable clothes as you will sweat despite how cold it is when you hike up.

Waiting at the summit for the sunrise can be freezing so wear your jacket/thermals there, do not forget to bring extra clothes to change from the sweaty ones for comfort, and enjoy the sunrise!

As Above, So Below

I got my advanced diving license here and it was breathtaking, literally. The shipwreck and abundantly diverse marine life was simply overwhelming, the strong currents were challenging, but drift diving was such an exhilarating experience. I will dive in Bali again and again.

I was stalked by a barracuda  and a stingray while doing my underwater navigation exercise.

But I was so happy to see a giant manta, they are my favourite!

So I almost didn't get my advanced diving certification, Bali's infamous currents didn't fail its reputation. My French instructor used the word "unacceptable" at some point, but I did great during the final drift dive. Who knew diving could be so emotional?

If you ever want to book a dive, please, only book with ATLANTIS, they are simply the best. My friends are dive masters, they will say the same.

Spa & Relaxation

A trip to Bali is never complete without pampering yourself to an authentic balinese massage, my two picks will be:

Acqua Perla is quite modern and super sleek, the facilities are great!

Prana Spa is inspired by Middle Eastern opulence which immediately transports in a royal atmosphere and state of lux.

(Managed to take a snapshot after a full body massage,

looking zen!)

Hidden Waterfalls

Reconnect with nature and take a dip !

There are two waterfalls close by at Gitgit they are lovely and worth a visit if you are on your way up to lake Bratan to see the water temple.

So this wraps up my 11 reasons why you have to book your first trip to Bali if you haven't, this in only my experience alone, and I am pretty sure you will be able to add more to this list and create your own #TravelStyle.

Just want to share a sample 5D4N itinerary I made from one of my previous trips, we weren't able to follow this exactly due to lack of time, you simply can't avoid to want to stay in some places a bit longer. I recommend to hire a private driver as this gives you not only comfort, but maximises your time and gives you freedom to go where you please.
