Transport yourself to a modern and sleek sanctuary in heart of Singapore's iconic shopping district. Hotel Jen Orchard Gateway has one of the best pools and views in the city, offering tourists and staycationers alike an exceptional playground for both fun and relaxation.
Remember to check out the video recap at the end of this post, enjoy!
What I truly like about Hotel Jen OG, is the fact that it's very modern and savvy. It reflects both local and futuristic flavours of Singapore. They understand the importance of service and food, they have a service robot called JENO and the variety of food available inside and outside of the hotel will keep the culinary explorer in us busy enough. The concept of Hotel Jen is built around the modern-day explorer's essentials, from location to the little extra details. I myself am a big fan of the little things that make us smile.
So, here's the tea, let's get started with the review.
Location Stats: 100%
277 Orchard Road, 238858, Singapore
Whether you're visiting or living in Singapore, Orchard road is a pleasant place to be. Leisurely walk along the shops or join the fun during the peak of the shopping season. This place is bustling with energy, especially during the Christmas holiday where Orchard road is transformed into a festive wonderland. Take a nice stroll outside with a cold drink to match.
When it's time to make your move, Hotel Jen OG conveniently sits on top of the RED LINE, which is SOMERSET STATION. A direct access through elevator from the reception level will to take you underground to where the station is. Convenience is the WORD.
Staff were very accommodating and pleasant, I have nothing to complain about. The lady in the breakfast buffet even knew it was my birthday. I easily ordered room service for breakfast too, I remember having a lovely time in the pool as I ordered my morning coconut. Everyone was in a fun mood, which is above the polite and usual.
I am still looking for that extra-something-special and totally unexpected touch that surprises me.
Giving a service score of 90% is pretty good for my standards, as I always reserve the 100% score for the little surprises. I've experienced in a few hotels in the past that they make hand-drawn cards and thank you notes for the guests. So, let's stay tuned and see how hotels like Hotel Jen OG can further personalise and delight their guests.
I stayed in the Club Room which offered Club Lounge access. It was cozy and clean with a spectacular view. The furnishing was good, but I felt that it needed more ambiance and finer detail. I felt that the modern elements were missing in the room. I do like the window area where you can sit or even enjoy a nice nap.
A coffee machine is pretty common in some hotels nowadays, so that would have been a great touch. Thankfully, I have Club Lounge access where I can get snacks and refreshments, including a coffee-to-go.
Overall, if you aren't fussy about details, the rooms are perfectly practical and comfortable, as a traveller, you'd be spending most of your time exploring outside and for staycationers, the facilities are superb.
I've tried three of their options for breakfast:
Club Lounge Breakfast
A great place if you want to avoid the bustling breakfast buffet where the rest of the guests are. The selections are adequate but I love to have this option of choosing where I want to dine.
Makan@Jen Breakfast Buffet
I love it! It's a feast fit for the hungriest of them all. It gets pretty busy there but you'll find a table for sure. What I truly find surprising is that they extend the buffet until 11AM on weekends, which is not a common practice in hotels. Shows that THEY TRULY UNDERSTAND that nights in Singapore can be pretty happening and that waking up too early is a pain.
Room Service Breakfast
It wasn't cheap, but 20-30 SGD for room service breakfast is pretty standard. I got myself an American Breakfast and the portions were enough for sharing actually. I like the fact that they don't just serve the milk in its carton packaging and that it comes in a cute bottle instead, nice touch. It would be perfect though if they have a proper bed tray, but that's something we can all look forward to in the future.
BONUS: Welcome Snacks
Alright, this was something I DID NOT expect. I found a decorative container with local sweet snacks in the room and complimentary sliced fruits in the fridge. Though I think it can be made more obvious, I found out right before I went to bed, so I had a nice bedtime snack, not bad.
They've got a couple of nice places and enough lounge areas to hang around. There's a pretty nice gym with a cycling machine placed outside the Bamboo Sky Terrace (fave chill place) which was very clever and thoughtful.
Highlight I must say goes to their roof top pool called Baywatch@Jen. I think it's a better idea to watch the video below so you guys can see for yourselves.
Price and Sense: 100%
For about 230-250SGD a night (more or less, depending on room type), a stay at Hotel Jen with complimentary breakfast is fabulous. I've checked the website and making a booking with Club Lounge Access only adds a difference of about 20SGD, which is another bonus.
